1959: When the Law Stopped Being the Whole Story
Neville did not abandon imaginal causation after 1959. He placed it inside a larger proclamation: the Promise and the fulfillment of Scripture in man.

Neville's career has a hinge: 1959. Before it, the public teaching concentrates on the Law—imaginal causation, assumption, prayer, states, and the realization of ends. After it, Neville increasingly speaks as a witness to a series of experiences he identifies with the fulfillment of Scripture.
Not a public retraction
Neville does not renounce imagination. He continues to answer practical questions and tell manifestation stories. The change is hierarchical: the Law remains true and useful, but it is no longer the ultimate purpose of God becoming man.
This is why a search for one sentence of correction will fail. Development appears through proportion. What receives an evening? What receives five minutes? Which themes recur without being prompted?
Neville names the before and after
In The Bible's Mystery, Neville says that before the 1959 events he knew the Law but did not know the Promise in the way he later proclaimed it. That testimony makes chronology part of his own account, not an interpretation imposed from outside.
Power Called “The Law” explains the pedagogical sequence. Demonstrable imaginal power can prepare an audience for a proclamation that otherwise appears incredible.
What the Promise adds
The Promise introduces a fixed Biblical pattern, received by grace rather than produced by technique. Neville links it with resurrection, divine birth, David's recognition of the Father, and the descent of the dove.
The destination is not merely a better arrangement of conditions. It is man's awakening as God the Father. In that proclamation, everyone is destined for fulfillment.
Why the distinction protects both teachings
If the Promise is reduced to manifestation, its Biblical claims disappear. If the Law is dismissed because the Promise is ultimate, the practical body of Neville's work is unnecessarily denied.
Reading them as related but distinct preserves both:
- The Law concerns how consciousness and states externalize conditions.
- The Promise concerns what God has purposed for humanity.
- The Law can be practiced and tested.
- The Promise arrives by grace in its appointed order.
After 1959, Neville did not become a different man with no relation to the earlier teacher. He became a teacher whose earlier message was no longer the whole story.
